# Removal requests

> How to have an application or an email address removed from the Periphery index.

## Removing an application

If you operate an application that appears in the index and want it removed, email [contact@gglabs.fr](mailto:contact@gglabs.fr) with the hostname. Send the request from an address at the domain concerned, or otherwise demonstrate that you control the host.

The app is removed from the index within 7 days and excluded from future crawls.

## Removing an email address

If your email address appears in indexed records and you want it removed, write from that address to the same contact. It is removed from the records it appears in.

## Fixing the exposure

Removal takes the record out of Periphery; it does not change what the application shows to the next visitor. If the record showed a credential, revoke it. If it showed data that should not be public, take it down at the source. Removal from Periphery is not a substitute for either.
